Equine Assisted Psychotherapy

RPS offers Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, EAP in Wakebridge, Derbyshire.

EAP is an excellent alternative or accompaniment to traditional talking therapies. In this approach clients (individuals / couples / families) work with both the therapist ( Dr Marchant) and one or more horses in a safe and structured environment. This way of working which is extremely popular in the USA focuses on enabling the client to find their own answers to their problems / dilemmas. EAP does not involve riding and no prior experience of horses is necessary.

EAP may be particularly helpful in the following circumstances:

  • ADHD / ADD

  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder

  • Addiction problems

  • Attachment difficulties

  • Difficulties with problem solving

  • Personality Disorder

  • Relationship problems (including dealing with conflict, fertility issues, post termination issues)

  • Identity

  • Trauma

EAP is also a useful tool for personal and professional development and can be an interesting tool in team-building / service development processes.
